You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
Welcome to SF Games, here are some very (we think) helpful hints:
1. When you come, just walk in and you can go up to any table with some game players and say that you're "new". It's that easy. (We're nice.)
2. A lot of the games might be new to you. We expect to do a "teach" on games. "Teaching" is part of the experience. We expect it and it's pretty certain that at least one person at the table really enjoys teaching. Please don't be shy about asking.
3. BIG HOWEVER THOUGH, if some folks have already begun a game please don't ask them to "explain" it to you as they are playing. Again, please introduce yourself at any time. But "interjecting" yourself into a game that started without you is distracting. Chances are they already did a "teach". Watching a game that's in session can also sometimes be distracting to some people, but most don't mind.
4. Play begins at 7:00 sharp for most early games. You're welcome to show up anytime though. Some people come early many come after 7:00.
5. Please buy something at the cafe. (Muddy's has been great to us over the years, but they are a business and we do take up a lot of space on a Friday night. A good rule of thumb is to buy something at least every couple hours or so.)
6. Please generously tip Devon (pronounced "Dehv-in"). She's almost always the one working the counter on Friday nights. She's been our regular barista for a little over a year. She's great and usually plays some cool music on the sound system. If you'd like her to play a CD of your choosing, please bring the CD and just ask if she'd pop it in. She's worth the tip.
7. David Kaye is another organizer of this Meetup group. David founded SF Games in 1995 and is a very nice guy. You may get communications from him or myself or Vikki. Vikki is planning to help with some special events. As usual, you may change your preferences if you prefer not get messages from us. We're just starting the group so we've been sending out quite a few, but we're busy people and we have trouble reading all our email too. So, we'll try to always keep it at a minimum.
That's about it. Hope to see you some time soon.
Thanks!
Jay Jonah Cash
