Great first meeting!

Today the SF Boardgames Meetup Group met for the first time and it appeared to be a rather successful event. Thank you to all those who attended. Special thanks to Carmen, Joe, and Mark for helping people learn new games. I hope you had some fun playing new games, revisiting old ones, and meeting interesting people.

We played Blurt, Killer Bunnies, Settlers of Catan, and Bang! We also played Set for our initial icebreaker activity. If you liked Set, you can play a Flash version of this game at http://logical-games..... Very fun!

As you have probably noticed, there is a second gathering scheduled. I think we are going to stay with the Zephyr's as the venue only because I felt that it was a good space for what we needed. Also, the limit for this new gathering is 30 (up 5 more). I want to get a feel for how large of a group we can work with and want to allow new people to attend. An added bonus is food, drinks, and internet access!

I will be posting a Types of Games FAQ and rules for several games we were introduced to this evening. Be sure to check the FILES tab for updates. I am also compiling a list of games that people shared during their introductions. I do want to encourage you to bring your favorites. The more games we have, the more we can select from. I will try to include game length next to titles so that you can get an idea of what kinds of games will work with your schedule (you may arrive late or may need to leave early).
