This Meetup Group is for people who want to make new friends in an enjoyable, relaxed situation: playing games.
These games may be Boardgames, card games, social Bunco (Bunko) type games, Pictionary or activity games: anything from serious strategy to the silliest of games.
Also, themes like guys day out meetups, ladies night out, etc.
This group will have several meetup types:
MEETUP TYPES:
A) Our Boardgame meetups will be a gathering of games at several tables to choose from ...
B) Our Bunco (Bunko) type meetups will be home hosted social nights.
C) There will be Demographic Theme nights for social activities
Such as: singles nights, mens? night out, ladies? night out, couples night, family day, etc.
- For example: 4 couples meet for a potluck meal and play Skipbo
- For example: singles meet for music, chatting over games ? it would be less stressful.
- For example: Guys day out: Superbowl party, golfing, shoot some hoops, bowling, etc.
WE WILL HAVE 3 TYPE OF MEETUPS LOCATIONS:
These meetups will not be a rotation, but several types happening each month.
1) in a home
2) small gathering place with several tables
3) larger venue
1) HOME:
Our one game type meetups (such as Bunco) OR social evenings with cards will be home hosted social nights.
At first my home will be used, but we can rotate this as is offered and requested by location, etc.
Any home can really only accommodate 12 to 16 people with practicality. This is best for nights when we have a low RSVP; or simply want an intimate potluck supper/noshie type of event. Every other or few months.
For example:
Some games such as Bunco lend themselves better to a home setting as they can get noisy and party of the fun is getting up, moving around and socializing.
There will be one of these at least every other month, hopefully more often.
Generally 12 to 16 people (3 to 4 tables) will participate. At first, it will be at my home with plans to rotate the location for added camaraderie, as many people like to host such things.
Although Bunco is the first of these home games, we can do any games the group likes
For more on Bunco, see the bottom of this page.
Also, as an example: couples getting together to meet new platonic friends may find it easier to sit around a table playing cards and chatting ...

Our Boardgame meetups will be a gathering of games at several tables to choose from ...
Basically: there will be different games set up at various tables
- volunteers offer to bring their favorite game
- if someone would like to try a different game, they can switch or tag out, to trade places with someone else at their table.
2) SMALL VENUE WITH TABLES:
Mansfield Borders manager has offered space for some meetups
Note: We will rotate Mansfield with other locations for logistics
(our group has diverse address list) as we get feedback and suggestions
The only drawback is we are limited by closing time of the store.
Also, as they are a business? We are expected to buy something minor ? like a cup of coffee or snack now and then.
This is where we can play anything from Monopoly to Clue to Dungeons and Dragons to whatever you wish.

3) LARGER VENUE: in future
After we grow, perhaps if we chip in $2-ish per person on the game night
we could rent out a cafeteria or room at a school, etc.
Then we could have 10 or 12 different games going on at once.
We will consider this as membership grows.
Advantages are more flexible meeting times and no limit for staying there; plus we can be noisy and have snacks.
While of course, we are sure to encounter the "competitive" type of person
in general, it will be very easy-going.
LOCATION:
This group is for Boston to South Attleboro.
Generally our meetups will be a fair distance between both cities.
At first Mansfield because it is at the intersection of I-95 and I-495
But, we will rotate locations to be fair ? email your suggestions
In addition, we will have volunteers host a Boston downtown meetup.
Note: we have had several people join from west of Boston, (Framingham, etc.).
Because of the long distance spread of the group - we will have extra meetups for people in that area.

]* MORE ON BUNCO (BUNKO)
Bunco is a rather a social event. People (primarily women) get together with food, maybe some wine and chit chat and play the game. Sometimes we donate door prizes.
The game itself comes from the 1850's and is rather a mindless rolling of the dice, (so you can still chat) smile.
There are no official rules to Bunco, although many people agree to this:
More information: Bunco Information and Rules
* Basically 12 people split into 3 four person tables. 4 people per table - split into 2 two person teams.
* Players roll 3 dice at a time and try to roll the number of the round.
Example round 1 you want to roll so that number 1 shows on the dice; Round 2 you want your dice to be showing 2, etc.
* If you roll the number of the round on a dice - you get a point. If you roll all 3 dice as the number of the round (say all 2's for round 2) you get 5 points.
* The player rolls as long as they score one or more points. Once they stop, the dice are passed to another player at their table.
* The round is over when the HIGH table reaches 21 points, they ring the bell and the round is over for everyone.
* At the end of each round (1 through 6) the winning team from the Middle and Low tables move up to a higher table. The losing team from the High table moves to the low table. During the switch partners are changed.
Bunco overview and guidelines
We will NOT play for money ... just door prizes like candles, candy, etc. ... that we all bring with us to join in the fun.
