A gathering of 25-50 folks to play the world's best boardgames. All are welcome.

The Atlanta Board & Card Game Meetup Group meets the second Wednesday and last Saturday each month. There will be games available for play and the Loop serves food and has drinks, beer and wine, so you really don't need to bring anything. If you have something you want to play you are welcome to do so. We get a good group of folks of all ages.

If you are a woman wondering where all the nice single men with good jobs are, they come and play boardgames. I'm not kidding, ask my wife. There's a enclosed section reserved for us and we can use the tables in the main part as well, so we've plenty of space. We will play until closing at 10pm on Wednesdays and 11pm on Saturdays, so even if you can't make it at the start time, feel free to drop by. We generally play shorter games to start, so late-comers don't have to wait too long to get into a game.

If this is your first meetup with us, this may be a more organic group than other meetups you have been to. There may not be someone to approach and welcome you when you come in. If everyone is playing a game then it is possible nobody would greet you right away. The folks there are social and friendly, but are really there to play games. If you wander up to any table and say "hi" folks will greet you and be happy to clue you in on what they are playing and help you get into the next available game. Once folks are not in the middle of a game, they generally will be happy to include whoever is looking for a game at that time.

Time and Place: Saturday, September 12, 10:00AM to 1:00AM on the first floor of the old Baptist Student Center. (This is the same place it was last year.)
The building is Building 11 on the Atlanta Campus map at
http://www2.mercer.edu/About_Mercer/map_dir.htm
Parking is in front and in back, entrances are on the lower floor (ignore the prominent stairs, and take the glass doors at ground level. )

The space is gorgeous. A mix of big, round tables and rectangular banquet tables, a counter along one wall with a sink, a pair of adjacent rooms full of spare tables and chairs, and a giant multi-story atrium separated from the main room by a glass wall. On Saturday, it'll pretty much be just us.

Fee is: $5 *OR* turn up with munchies and/or beverages for at least 3 people. Mercer Faculty, Staff, and Students get in free

Other thing: Absolutely no alcohol. Mercer is a dry campus.

Big possibility of a full 6 player session of Beatles: Rock Band which releases on 9/9.

Cost: $5.00

Game Fest South is a chance for boardgame players to gather for four days of fun and games. There will be hundreds of the world's best boardgames available for play as well as friendly folks who can help with the rules. This will be a major regional event with the fun and feel of an invitational. Game Fest South is brought to you by the folks who do the Atlanta Game Fest.

If you have been to the Atlanta Game Fest you know it is easy to have days of fun socializing and playing games. Going out of town for such an event, while certainly more expensive, offers a unique opportunity to leave the distractions of home and really submerge yourself in gaming and socializing.
